Nikolaus Borner

Nikolaus Börner (also Nicolai Börner , Nicolaus Börner , born January 27, 1693 in Schmieritz ; † September 12, 1760 in Neustadt an der Orla ) was a German pharmacist and physician who last worked as a general practitioner in Neustadt an der Orla.

Live and act

Nikolaus Börner did an apprenticeship as a pharmacist with the pharmacist Bernhard in Frankenhausen and after completing his training worked for a long time at the court and university pharmacist Voigt in Jena. After working in Frankfurt am Main, Strasbourg and Koblenz, he returned in 1721 after the death of his mother and studied medicine at the University of Jena. He received his doctorate on November 27, 1725 and then worked as a general practitioner in Neustadt an der Orla until the end of his life.

Börner was best known for his writings on paediatrics, some of which appeared in several editions until 1756.

On April 29, 1737 he was registered under the registration number. 470 elected a member of the Leopoldina with the academic surname Asterion II .

In 1751 he was appointed Imperial Count Palatine.

Nikolaus Börner was married to Sophie Regina, nee Wendler, daughter of the school principal David Wendler, on October 8, 1726. The couple had two children, a daughter and a son.
