Location of the municipality of Schmieritz in the Saale-Orla district | ||
Lubricitz is a municipality in the Triptis administrative community in the Saale-Orla district in Thuringia .
geography
Schmitz is located on the northern roof of the southeast Thuringian slate mountains and in the transition to the Orlasenke . In the valley runs the federal highway 281 with connection to the federal highway 9 and the railway line Leipzig – Probstzella .
The community consists of the districts Schmitz, Traun and Weltwitz .
history
Lubricitz was first mentioned in 1319 as Smiricz , Traun in 1378 and Weltwitz in 1257.
About one kilometer south of the village of Weltwitz there was a hill fort from the 10th or 11th century on the spur-like hill. Finds indicate that the facility was temporarily inhabited by people. The builders were probably Slavs, but traces of German residents were also found. The wall and ditch system can still be seen clearly.
A church was built in the first half of the 15th century.
On July 1, 1950, the previously independent communities of Traun and Weltwitz were incorporated.

coat of arms
The coat of arms was approved on October 17, 1995 by the Thuringian State Administration Office.
Blazon : “Divided by blue and gold; above three (1: 2) silver millstones, below a blue handle pump. "
The three millstones in the upper part of the coat of arms indicate the large number of windmills and water mills once operated in the municipality; the number of millstones stands for the number of districts. The motif in the lower part refers to the many lever pumps and wells in the townscape.
The coat of arms was designed by Manfred Fischer from Goßwitz .
