Monuments
In the Schöndorf cemetery, the grave memorial of a perished forced laborer from Poland reminds us that forced laborers were used here and in Külmla during the Second World War : with farmers and on the farm of the Golle estate owner in Külmla, where children were also obliged to do forced labor.
A plaque is attached to the church , which reminds of all those who died in the three villages of Schöndorf, Tausa and Külmla during the Second World War, they are all listed there.
At the south entrance of the cemetery is the memorial for those who died in the First World War . It bears the inscription "our heroes" and underneath it all the fallen in the village of Schöndorf are listed with the date of death.
coat of arms
After the towns of Külmla, Schöndorf and Tausa were amalgamated to form Schöndorf, the community used a round seal with a linden tree in the middle and ears of corn on the right and left.
In 2003 the municipality decided to design a new coat of arms for the municipality and launched a competition for the submission of proposals. The design by Sven Samesch was selected. The coat of arms was presented to the public on June 13, 2003 during the 625th anniversary celebration and officially introduced that same year.
The coat of arms combines elements of the old coat of arms into a new one. The silver tincture with the red stake is taken from the Tausa coat of arms, it stands for the three goods that Tausa once owned. The Justitia on the right is taken from the Külmla coat of arms, it stands for the jurisdiction held by the Külmla estate owners, the Lords of Obernitz. The deciduous tree was taken from the Schöndorf coat of arms. It is a linden tree and stands for village life, just like the green color of the tree.
