The hamlet of Weltwitz is a part of the municipality of Schmieritz in the Saale-Orla district in Thuringia .
geography
The hamlet of Weltwitz is located at the transition from the northern roofing of the southeast Thuringian slate mountains to the Orlatal . The soils found there are very fertile. Weltwitz is in the immediate vicinity of the federal highway 281 and has a connection to the federal highway 9 at Triptis via this connection . Deutsche Bahn can be reached in Neustadt an der Orla ; the Leipzig – Probstzella railway line passes close to the village.
The neighboring Moderwitz is one of the closest suburbs to Neustadt an der Orla .
history
Weltwitz was first mentioned in documents in 1257. The Romanesque church originally had a choir tower, which was demolished in 1690.
