NGC 958 is an active barred spiral galaxy with extensive star formation from Hubble type SBc in the constellation Cetus south of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 257 million light years from the Milky Way and about 220,000 ly in diameter.
The Type Ia supernova SN 2005A was observed here.
The object was on September 20, 1784 by Wilhelm Herschel .
