NGC 951 is a faint barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBab in the constellation Whale south of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 270 million light years from the Milky Way and about 45,000 light years in diameter.
The property was discovered by Francis Leavenworth in 1886 .
