NGC 948 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBc in the constellation Cetus south of the celestial equator . It is estimated to be 212 million light years from the Milky Way and about 90,000 light years across.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 942 , NGC 943 , NGC 945 , IC 230 .
The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on November 1, 1886 .
