NGC 948 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBc in the constellation Cetus south of the celestial equator . It is estimated to be 212 million light years from the Milky Way and about 90,000 light years across.
In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 942 , NGC 943 , NGC 945 , IC 230 .

The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on November 1, 1886 .
