NGC 925 is a bar-spiral galaxy with extensive star formation regions of the Hubble type SBcd in the constellation Triangle in the northern sky . The distance of around 30 million light years can be regarded as very precise, because it is based on measurements by the Hubble Space Telescope on 80 Cepheids - variables of the galaxy. Its diameter reaches 100,000 light years, and astronomers estimate the total mass to be 50 billion solar masses . It has an angular extent of 10 ′, 5 × 5 ′, 9 and an apparent magnitude of 9.9 mag.
The galaxy is part of a group that also includes NGC 891 and NGC 1023 .

The object was discovered on September 13, 1784 by the British astronomer William Herschel .
