NGC 918 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBc in the constellation Aries on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 71 million light years from the Milky Way and about 70,000 light years in diameter.
The object was discovered on January 11, 1831 by the astronomer John Herschel with the help of his 18.7 inch reflector telescope and was later listed by Johan Dreyer in his New General Catalog .
