NGC 902 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBbc in the constellation Whale south of the celestial equator . It is estimated to be 301 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 50,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky is the galaxy NGC 887 .
The object on was discovered by Francis Leavenworth on November 28, 1885 .
