AACTA International Awards 2019

The 8th Australian AACTA International Awards , presented annually by the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA), a non-profit organization founded by the Australian Film Institute in August 2011 , took place on January 4, 2019 in Los Angeles instead. They honored the best films of 2018 outside Australia and are thus the counterpart of the regular AACTA Awards for Australian films, which took place on December 3rd and 5th, 2018.

Overview

The nominations were announced on December 11, 2018. There were no changes compared to the award from the previous year . With five nominations, the music film A Star Is Born received the most mentions, followed by Vice - The second man with four. BlacKkKlansman , Bohemian Rhapsody , Roma , The Favorite - Intrigen und Irrsinn (3 each), A Quiet Place , Green Book - A special friendship and The Prodigal Son (2 each) also received several nominations .

The Favorite - Intrigen and Madness and Roma could each win two awards. The Mexican drama won best film and best director ( Alfonso Cuarón ), while the period film was recognized for best screenplay ( Tony McNamara and Deborah Davis ) and best actress ( Olivia Colman ). The remaining awards went to Rami Malek for portraying Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody , Mahershala Ali in Green Book, and Nicole Kidman in The Prodigal Son .
