AACTA International Awards 2020

The 9th Australian AACTA International Awards , presented annually by the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA), a non-profit organization founded by the Australian Film Institute in August 2011 , took place on January 3, 2020 in Los Angeles instead. They honor the best films of 2019 outside Australia and are thus the counterpart to the regular AACTA Awards for Australian films, which took place on December 2nd and 4th, 2019.

Overview

The nominations were announced on December 10, 2019. There were no changes compared to the award from the previous year . With six nominations, the crime film The Irishman received the most mentions, followed by Once Upon a Time in Hollywood with five. Bombshell - The End of Silence , Joker , Parasite (4 each), Marriage Story and Little Women (2 each) received multiple nominations.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood was the only film to win two awards. The crime film was recognized for Best Director ( Quentin Tarantino ) and Best Supporting Actor ( Brad Pitt ). The South Korean tragicomedy Parasite won the best film, Taika Waititi for his work on Jojo Rabbit in the best script , Saoirse Ronan in Little Women as best leading actress and Margot Robbie in Bombshell as best supporting actress .
