The Lurky Rocks ( English for Lurking Rocks ) are cliffs in the archipelago of the Southern Orkney Islands . They are located east of Polynesia Point off the east coast of Signy Island .
The Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey surveyed these rocks between 1947 and 1950. The Royal Navy took aerial photographs in 1968. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 2004. It is named after the fact that the rocks do not protrude above sea level during high tides and therefore pose a risk to shipping.
