The Polynesia Point is an ice-free headland on the east coast of Signy Iceland in the archipelago of the South Orkney Islands . It forms the northern limit of the entrance to Paal Harbor .
Scientists from the British Discovery Investigations carried out measurements in 1933, the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey again in 1947. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1954 after the Norwegian factory ship Polynesia , which had operated under Captain Hans Borge (1873-1946) from 1913 to 1914 in the service of Aktieselskabet Rethval for whaling in the waters around the South Shetland Islands.
