AACTA International Awards 2015

The 4th presentation of the Australian AACTA International Awards , presented annually by the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA), a non-profit organization founded by the Australian Film Institute in August 2011 , took place on January 31, 2015 in Los Angeles instead. They honored the best films of 2014 outside Australia and are thus the counterpart to the regular AACTA Awards for Australian films that took place on January 27 and 29, 2015. The award ceremony was hosted by Australian actors Nicole Kidman and Geoffrey Rush and was shown for the second time on the Australian cable channel Arena on February 1, 2015 .

Overview

The nominations were announced on January 6, 2015. There are no changes compared to the award from last year. With seven nominations, the black comedy Birdman received the most mentions, followed by Boyhood and The Imitation Game - A Top Secret Life with five each. Whiplash (4), Grand Budapest Hotel (3), The Discovery of Infinity and Foxcatcher (2 each) also received several nominations .

Birdman won four awards for best film, best director, best screenplay and best actor. Julianne Moore was honored as best leading actress in Still Alice - My Life Without Yesterday . The two remaining supporting actor awards went to JK Simmons in Whiplash and Patricia Arquette in Boyhood .
