Scott Beck

Scott Beck (born October 22, 1984 in Denver , Colorado ) is an American screenwriter and film producer and director .

Life

Scott Beck, born in Denver in 1984, met Bryan Woods when he was 11 years old when he later lived in Davenport . They had seen a number of silent films starring Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton during their college days together . However, Jacques Tati was her absolute favorite, according to Beck.

After Beck and Woods had shown films together at the Adler Theater in Davenport, they later wrote various scripts together, for example between 2002 and 2010 for the short films Yearbook , Amber , Shades and Impulse . They also developed the underlying story for the horror thriller Nightlight , released in 2015, which they also directed together. In 2017 it was announced that they were able to sell their script for A Quiet Place to Paramount Pictures. Beck and Woods had already developed the basic idea for this during their college days. Their shared passion for silent films had led them to place the story of A Quiet Place in such a genre context. Her script was eventually implemented by actor and director John Krasinski .
