NGC 908 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type SA (s) c in the constellation whale south of the celestial equator . It has an apparent magnitude of 10.2 mag and an angular extent of 6 ′, 1 × 2 ′, 7. At a distance of an estimated 66 million light years the result is a diameter of 115,000 ly. The core region is absolutely uniform, without bulges , it is one of the so-called disk galaxies.
NGC 908 presumably interacts with the compact galaxy PGC 9005 .

The galaxy disk is badly bent - two spiral arms seem to cross in the eastern half . The reason for the deformation is unclear, no other objects can be seen in the immediate vicinity.

The object is counted together with the two galaxies NGC 899 and NGC 907 (0.5 degrees north-northwest and 0.5 degrees north) to the Cetus-Aries group of galaxies .

The galaxy was discovered on September 20, 1786 by the British astronomer William Herschel .
