NGC 898 is an edge-on spiral galaxy of the Hubble type Sab in the constellation Andromeda in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 251 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 130,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 891 , NGC 906 , NGC 909 , NGC 910 , among others .
The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on October 17, 1786 .
