Donald M. Hooper

Donald M. Hooper (born October 2, 1945 in Hartford , Connecticut ) is an American teacher and politician who was Secretary of State of Vermont from 1993 to 1995 .

Life

Donald M. Hooper was born in Hartford, Connecticut. At Harvard University he received his bachelor's degree in 1968 and his master's degree in 1973 . Then he went to Botswana as a teacher with the Peace Corps . Back in Vermont, he was coordinator for education, Regional Director Central Vermont of Community Colleges of Vermont and manager of the Vermont Natural Resources Council .

As a member of the Democratic Party , he was a member of the Vermont House of Representatives from 1985 to 1993 . During that time, he chaired the Government Operations Committee and served on the Natural Resources and Ways and Means Committees . He held the office of Secretary of State from 1993 to 1995, but lost the election in 1994 to James F. Milne .
