James F. Milne

James F. Milne (born July 8, 1950 in Barre , Vermont ) is an American lawyer and politician who was Secretary of State of Vermont from 1995 to 1999 .

Life

James F. Milne was born in Barre, Vermont. There he also attended the public schools. He earned a bachelor's degree in pharmacy from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy in 1974 . From 1974 to 1988 he was director of Allan Milne Pharmacy in Barre. He was a member of the Vermont Board of Pharmacy from 1981 to 1992 and chaired that committee from 1986 to 1988. As a member of the Vermont sister party of the Republican Party , he successfully ran for the office of Clerk and Treasurer of Barre City in 1988. He held this position until he was elected Secretary of State of Vermont in 1994.

Milne held various offices. These included the presidency of the Vermont Jaycees from 1979 to 1980 and the vice presidency of the US National Jaycees from 1980 to 1981. An avid skier, he served with the National Ski Patrol . He is married to Judith Garigliano Milne. The couple have three daughters and one son.
