Thomas Leverett

Thomas Leverett (born July 10, 1765 in Boston , † April 8, 1833 in Windsor , Vermont ) was an American politician and from 1806 to 1813 Vermont Secretary of State .

Life

Thomas Leverett was born in Boston to John Leverett and Mary Greenleaf. He was a descendant of John Leverett , a colonial governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony .

Leverett moved to Windsor, Vermont. There he held the post of postmaster from 1802 . He was also Superintendent of the State Prison .

As a member of the Democratic Republican Party , Leverett was Secretary of State of Vermont from 1806 to 1813.

Thomas Leverett married Susannah Johnson. They had seven children. He died in Windsor on April 8, 1833.
