NGC 976 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sbc in the constellation Aries on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 195 million light years from the Milky Way and about 90,000 light years in diameter.
The galaxies NGC 992 and IC 235 are located in the same area of ​​the sky .

The Type Ia / P supernova SN 1999dq was observed here.

The object was discovered in 1876 by Ernst Wilhelm Leberecht Tempel .
