Stefan Rosinski

Stefan Rosinski (* 25. September 1961 in Flensburg ) is a German director of musical theater , playwright and cultural manager . Since 2016 he has been managing director of Theater, Oper und Orchester GmbH Halle.

Life

Rosinski grew up as the eldest of three brothers in Flensburg and did his Abitur there at the Fördegymnasium. After military service, he studied from 1983 at the Academy of Music and Theater in Hamburg with Götz Friedrich opera directing, where he completed his studies in 1988 with the staging of the opera The spring guise of Wolfgang-Andreas Schultz at the studio theater of the Hamburg State Opera from. He then went to the newly opened Aalto Theater in Essen as assistant director and evening theater manager under the direction of Manfred Schnabel . After a season he went back to Hamburg and worked as a copywriter and wrote theater reviews. From 1991 he was program assistant at the Literaturhaus Hamburg , from 1993 he worked for various independent theater productions in Hamburg and Berlin as a director, actor and producer.

From 1996 to 1999 he was employed as a lecturer at the University of Hamburg and the Philosophical-Theological University of Sankt Georgen . At the same time, he wrote scripts and worked as a television dramaturge and storyliner for TV series such as Gute Zeiten, Bad Zeiten and Inspector Rex .

From 2000 he attended the advanced training academy for business in Hamburg and graduated in 2002 as a state-certified business economist and industrial clerk. He then did internships in sales controlling at the Otto Group and in personnel controlling at Lufthansa . At the beginning of 2002 he prepared the first visitor analysis for the Hamburg State Opera . He then completed an internship in controlling at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg . Since April 2003 Rosinski has been department head for finances, controlling and organization at the Staatstheater Hannover , on October 1, 2004 he was appointed administrative director and managing director.

In 2006 he moved to the Opera Foundation in Berlin as commercial director of the stage service and took over his vacant position on a temporary basis in 2007 after General Director Michael Schindhelm had left. “After a violent dispute with the governing mayor Klaus Wowereit ”, his position “was not extended beyond August 31, 2009.” However, Rosinski remained the commercial director of the foundation's stage service. He then went to the Volksbühne in Berlin as chief dramaturge . After arguments about competencies, Frank Castorf dismissed him after less than a year. He then took on the position of commercial director at the Rostock Volkstheater .

Since August 1, 2016, he has been the sole managing director of Theater, Oper und Orchester GmbH Halle. A competence dispute led by him with the artistic directors Matthias Brenner and Florian Lutz has been discussed nationwide since 2017. By resolution of the TOOH Supervisory Board on February 18, 2020, his position will not be extended beyond July 31, 2021.

From February to June 2017 Rosinski was chairman of the municipal working group “Application for European Capital of Culture ” of the city of Halle. After a controversial discussion and the lack of a coherent concept, the city council of Halle voted against an application.

Rosinski has one son and lives in Berlin.
