The Fortbildungsakademie der Wirtschaft (FAW) gGmbH , based in Cologne, is a non-profit institution for adult education with 34 academies and over 200 locations in 11 federal states. The company employs over 2,500 people (permanent employees including marginal employees and trainees. As of February 2019).

The shareholders of FAW, which was founded in 1986, are 90 percent of the " Professional Training Centers of the Bavarian Economy (bfz) gGmbH " and 10 percent of the " Institute of the German Economy ". As a "subsidiary of the vocational training centers of the Bavarian economy (bfz) gGmbH", the FAW is part of the education center of the Bavarian economy .

The FAW supports active labor market policy through needs-based training and qualification for placement in the primary labor market . The primary goal of the service offers is the placement in the 1st labor market or the long-term safeguarding of the existing job.

FAW gGmbH is certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001 : 2015 and a recognized agency according to AZAV (Accreditation and Licensing Ordinance for Employment Promotion).
