The ray , also called Stral , is a common figure in heraldry and therefore also a heraldic figure . In a broader sense, it is an arrowhead. The best known is the figure from the Stralsund coat of arms , which here also refers to the city name. In Polish it is called strzala .

For example, the coat of arms for the Herb Ogonczyk, a ray in red with a half ring, on whose arch a silver ray stands upright, is assigned to a community of coats of arms. This herb stands for about 300 families.
