IC 1786 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type S in the constellation Cetus south of the ecliptic . It is around 405 million light years from the Milky Way and around 45,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 864 and IC 214 .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on November 24, 1903 .
