IC 1789 is a spiral galaxy of the Hubble type Sa in the constellation Triangle in the northern sky . It is around 219 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 140,000 light years. Together with four other galaxies, it forms the IC 1784 group ( LGG 55 ).
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies IC 1785 and IC 1793 .
The object was discovered by Edward Emerson Barnard .
