Depression
A lowland - also called a river lowland - in the sense of geomorphology is an area of the earth's surface that is delimited by two high banks and not closed in itself above sea level with outflow, which has or is still digging into a river terrace through a river or several rivers .

Such depressions are usually flat, elongated depressions in the earth's surface. They are mostly found in extensive plains on the middle and lower reaches of the rivers.
