history
Based on a repair service for umbrellas from Lennart Lajboschitz's father's trading company and the import of products from Asia, Lennart Lajboschitz's first retail store was opened in Copenhagen in 1987.
In 1991 Lennart Lajboschitz founded the company Zebra A / S and in 1995 opened his first shop called "Zebra". The name “Tiger” was created with the second shop. This resulted in the “Tiger” retail chain. In 2001 the first shop outside Denmark was opened in Reykjavík , Iceland . The Tiger stores outside Denmark are run as outsourced companies.
Tiger has been around in Germany since the end of 2006. The first shop was opened in Flensburg . All products are offered at fixed prices in Germany. The range of goods consists of standard goods and a changing range. The offer includes goods for everyday use. In 2010, Tiger said it had 100 branches in 10 countries and in 2015 it had over 80 million customers across Europe with 585 shops.
In mid-2016 the name was changed to "Flying Tiger Copenhagen". At the end of 2016, the number of locations had increased to 745 branches in 30 countries.
Management
In October 2012 Lennart Lajboschitz sold 70 percent of his shares to the EQT VI private equity fund from EQT Investors.
