Building in Foggy Bottom, in front right the Watergate building complex
Foggy Bottom is a neighborhood in Washington, DC. The name was chosen because of the foggy valley that was primarily created by the factories that were previously located there. Moreover, the name is a nickname for the nearby Harry S Truman Building housed United States Department of State .
Other important institutions such as the International Monetary Fund ( IMF), George Washington University and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts are also located in Foggy Bottom .
Another well-known building is the Watergate building complex , after which the Watergate affair is named, which led to the resignation of then US President Richard Nixon in 1974 .
