Polytunnels are used in trade and industry as warehouses , machine halls or multi-purpose halls . In agriculture they are used as stables , hay stores or straw stores; They are also used as riding halls .
Foil tunnels are also known as lightweight halls, cover halls, system halls or foil halls and are often confused with tent structures due to their foil roofing . However, they differ from these in that they have to comply with the same legal requirements as solid or prefabricated buildings .
In the horticultural sector , a polytunnel is also used as an inexpensive greenhouse . The round arches made of steel are covered with a special greenhouse film. In strawberry cultivation, this method is also used with so-called hiking tunnels for earliness. They are assembled and dismantled relatively quickly.
