Fons Merkies

Fons Merkies (born June 7, 1966 in Zaandam ) is a Dutch composer .

Life

Fons Markies played in his youth as a guitarist in various bands. After graduating from school, he originally wanted to become an actor and musician and began studying at the Amsterdamse Toneel & Kleinkunstacademie . During this time he began to take piano lessons from a jazz teacher, which is why he was asked to compose some student films. Only then did he concentrate on composing.

After completing his studies, he was able to establish himself as a composer and since the mid-1990s has been responsible for the music of over 150 different film and television productions. For the film Boy Ecury , directed by Frans Weisz , he was awarded a Golden Calf for Best Composer in 2003.

Merkies has been married to actress Camilla Siegertsz since 1996 . Together they have four children, Java , Redmar and Tess Siegertsz each work as actors.
