Fontana is an impact crater on the western edge of the moon front , west of Oceanus Procellarum , southeast of Sirsalis crater and southwest of Billy . The rim of the relatively heavily eroded crater has a notch in the northwest.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Italian astronomer Francesco Fontana .
