Sirsalis is an impact crater on the western edge of the lunar front , on the western edge of Oceanus Procellarum , southeast of Grimaldi crater and west of Hansteen . The crater rim is sharply defined, the interior shows concentric structures and a central mountain . To the southwest of Sirsalis, the lunar groove system of the Rimae Sirsalis runs in a northeast and southwest direction.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Italian Jesuit and selenographer Gerolamo Sersale .
