Life
Ford Beckman was a successful fashion designer in New York in the 1980s before turning entirely to fine art in the 1990s. Beckman moved into a studio in Manhattan in the late 1980s and had his first solo exhibition in New York in 1988. In 1992 Beckman opened his first solo exhibition in Europe at the Hans Mayer Gallery in Düsseldorf. Ford Beckman's works were purchased in Europe from the collector Giuseppe Panza and the Essl Collection , among others . Beckman was friends with Cy Twombly. As early as the mid-1990s, Ford Beckman's career seemed to be breaking off. Financial and personal reasons made him disappear from the art world in New York.
