description

Forebank House is about 1.5 kilometers southeast of the village of Marykirk a short distance north of the left bank of the River North Esk , which marks the border between Aberdeenshire and the neighboring Council Area Angus . The villa was built in 1757. Stylistically it shows parallels to the architecture of William Adams .

The façades of the two-story, elongated quarry stone building are partially limed, with the borders being contrasted in color. Its north-facing main facade is symmetrical and five axes wide. The central entrance door has a window and architrave . It is crowned by a simple cornice . The gable ends have oval windows on the upper floor and two ox eyes on the top floor. The rear facade is asymmetrical. Next to Forebank House are the one-story former stables. Stone balls sit on the pillars of the garden enclosure.
