Scientific work

In his scientific research, Rohwer u. a. with the microbial ecology of coral reefs and also includes viruses . He views viruses as both drivers of evolution and opportunistic pathogens in various environments. He made a significant contribution to shaping the field of metagenomics and is still very active in this area today, including with medical applications.
