NGC 1122 = NGC 1123 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBb in the constellation Perseus in the northern sky . It is an estimated 166 million light-years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 85,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky there are u. a. the galaxies NGC 1130 , IC 262 , IC 265 , IC 266 .
The Type II supernova SN 2016fqr was observed here.
The object was discovered by William Herschel on October 17, 1786 and listed as NGC 1123 . "Discovered"
by Lewis Swift on September 6, 1885 and listed as NGC 1122 .
