NGC 1103 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBb in the constellation Eridanus in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 183 million light years from the Milky Way and about 120,000 light years in diameter. Together with IC 1853 it probably forms a gravitationally bound galaxy pair. She is the brightest member of the NGC 1103 group ( LGG 76 ).
In the same area of the sky there is still u. a. the galaxy NGC 1120 .

The object was discovered on December 26, 1885 by the astronomer Lewis Swift .
