NGC 1092 is an elliptical galaxy from the Hubble-type E2 in the constellation Eridanus the southern sky . It is an estimated 387 million light years from the Milky Way and about 105,000 light years across. It probably forms a gravitationally bound galaxy pair with NGC 1091 .
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 1098 , NGC 1099 , NGC 1100 , NGC 1119 .
The property was discovered by Francis Preserved Leavenworth on October 17, 1885 .
