NGC 1076 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0-a in the constellation Cetus in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 92 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 55,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 1065 , IC 252 , IC 253 , IC 254 .
The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on December 29, 1885 .
