NGC 1065 is an elliptical galaxy of Hubble type E / S0 in the constellation Cetus south of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 329 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 75,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 1076 , IC 251 , IC 253 , IC 254 .
The object was discovered on September 29, 1886 by Lewis Swift .
