IC 251 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type S in the constellation Cetus south of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 332 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 60,000 ly.

The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on December 5, 1891 .
