IC 270 is a cD galaxy of the Hubble type E / S0 in the constellation Eridanus in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 389 million light years from the Milky Way and about 195,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 1158 , IC 268 , IC 269 , IC 272 .
The Type Ia supernova SN 2004go was observed here.
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on December 1, 1891 .
