IC 270 is a cD galaxy of the Hubble type E / S0 in the constellation Eridanus in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 389 million light years from the Milky Way and about 195,000 light years in diameter.

In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 1158 , IC 268 , IC 269 , IC 272 .

The Type Ia supernova SN 2004go was observed here.

The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on December 1, 1891 .
