IC 288 is a galaxy in the constellation Perseus in the northern sky . It is an estimated 237 million light years from the Milky Way and about 70,000 light years in diameter. 
The galaxies NGC 1174 , NGC 1177 , NGC 1198 , IC 284 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on October 31, 1888 .
