IC 305 is a compact elliptical galaxy of the Hubble type E3 in the constellation Perseus in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 235 million light years from the Milky Way and about 55,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies IC 1900 , IC 1901 , IC 1902 and IC 304 .
The object was discovered on September 12, 1890 by Sherburne Wesley Burnham .
