IC 310 is a lens-shaped radio galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Perseus in the northern sky . It is an estimated 258 million light years away from the Milky Way , about 85,000 light years in diameter, and is considered a member of the Perseus Cluster Abell 426 .
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 1250 , NGC 1259 , NGC 1260 , IC 308 .
The object was discovered on November 3, 1888 by Edward D. Swift .
