IC 290 = IC 1884 is a spiral galaxy of the Hubble type Sb in the constellation Perseus in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 274 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 90,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 1212 , IC 292 , IC 293 , IC 294 .
The Type Ia supernova SN 2015az was observed here.
The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on September 11, 1888 .
