The Opalchenie Peak (English; Bulgarian връх Опълчение wrach Opaltschenie ) is a 4600 m high summit at the southern end of the Vinson Plateau in the Sentinel Range of the Ellsworth Mountains in the west Antarctic Ellsworthland . It rises with only low prominence 2.66 km south-southeast of Silverstein Peak , 0.9 km south of Fukushima Peak , 7.49 km northwest of Mount Rutford , 4.09 km north to east of Mount Slaughter and 7.41 km east of the Brichebor Peak . To the south of it extend two mountain ridges , between which the Donnellan Glacier lies and of which the southern Mount Slaughter is home. Its striking southern slopes are partly not iced.
American scientists mapped it in 1988. The Bulgarian Commission for Antarctic Geographical Names named it in 2010 after the name given to Bulgarian volunteers in the Russo-Ottoman War (1877–1878) and in the Macedonian-Adrianople Landwehr during the Balkan Wars (1912–1913).
