IC 318 is a spiral galaxy of the Hubble type Sbc in the constellation Eridanus in the southern sky . It is an estimated 407 million light years from the Milky Way and about 110,000 light years across .
In the same region of the sky there are u. a. the galaxies NGC 1290 , NGC 1295 , NGC 1309 .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on December 1, 1891 .
